Experience the magic of Heritage Hill transformed into a holiday wonderland as you join us for a Heritage Hill Christmas. Celebrate the season in a breathtaking setting by trying historic dancing, toy making, and holiday baking on the farm, and experience the serenity of a living nativity. Enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride as music of the season fills the park and warms the hearts of guests of all ages hoping to catch a glimpse of jolly old St. Nick.
Some of the programs during this day are as follows. Times and activities subject to change:
Watch the blacksmith at his trade. Feel the heat from the forge on this cold winter’s day. See how wooden toys were made on a Schnitzelbank. Items made by the blacksmith are sold in the Gift Shop.
Are you cold yet? Stop by Town Hall and warm up with some tasty treats.
Enter Tank Cottage, the oldest residence in Wisconsin, and view Christmas decorations of the 1860s. The Civil War had a huge impact on Christmas, ushering in an era of family togetherness and the development of “Santa Claus.” Learn how the Tank family’s celebrations revolved around Holland and Norway traditions, religious observances, and community involvement.
Join the men and women of Fort Howard as they dance the afternoon away. Watch as historic dances are performed to period music, then partner with a soldier or lady and learn the Cumberland Basket, Ninepins, or another historic dance. Enjoy the holiday season in style!
Music provided by the Heritage Hill Volunteer Music Group
Follow your nose to the kitchen and learn about Belgian American Christmas traditions. Sample cookies and find out what cougnou meant to the Belgian immigrants who settled Northeast Wisconsin. Stop at the barn to see the Living Nativity.
