How was the 4th of July celebrated in the late nineteenth century? In Brown County, over 100 years ago, residents celebrated the Fourth of July much like today, with community events and family outings. Activities included parades, speeches, fireworks, picnics, dances, and races.

Heritage Hill provides Fourth of July festivities that are fun for the entire family. Uncle Sam will be in the park greeting visitors (don’t forget to ask him how he got his name)! Enjoy listening to the presentation of the Declaration of Independence by one of the parks historic characters. Children and adults alike will enjoy old fashioned sack races, horse shoes, croquet and other historic games. Have a picnic on the Green and listen to live music as you enjoy your lunch.
