Heritage Hill State Historical Park is pleased to welcome re-enactors from across the state for its Civil War Re-enactment weekend. Visitors will have the opportunity to view demonstrations of Civil War life from both the military and civilian perspectives including the weapons they used. Civil War soldiers and other period townspeople transform Heritage Hill into a Civil War battleground.
Gnome Games and the Green Bay Wargamers Guild will be hosting Civil War Battles in miniatures. Take command of a Company or Regiment for part of the battle and see if your tactics can save some lives or win the day. Take command for a few turns and experience some of the decisions that the leaders on the battlefield experienced.
Younger ‘soldiers’ will also be able to take the field on short, intense side skirmishes that are designed to capture the terror, confusion, and essence of the battlefield in 15mm scale and take a Union or Confederate soldier home as a remembrance of the war and the day. We will also have painting supplies available to ‘dress your soldier’ in uniform before you take him home.
Guests will be able to visit Confederate and Union military and civilian campsites and ask questions. Take time to view the various period items at each encampment.
Each child will be given the name of an actual union or confederate soldier and will be locating items in the park and then will find out the fate of his/her soldier.
