For Laura Ingalls Wilder, the tall trees of Pepin, Wisconsin were her first memories and were recorded within the pages of the Little House series of books. The popularity of the books also prompted a television series, “Little House on the Prairie”.
From July 30-31, 2011 Heritage Hill State Historical Park Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House books will come to life. Activities include making bullets, historic dancing, rug braiding, log cabin building, grinding coffee, doing laundry, fiddle music, spelling bee, rag doll making, twisting hay sticks, rope making and historic cooking.
Special appearances will be made this year by Charlotte Stewart, the actress who portrayed the school teacher Miss Beadle. Returning this year is special guest, William Anderson, Laura Ingalls Wilder biographer, author and historian.
Presentation by William Anderson and Charlotte Stewart. The presentation will include a Reader’s Theatre, Spelling Bee and stories from “Little House on the Prairie” episodes by Charlotte Stewart, followed by a Question and Answer session.
Participate or take in all the excitement as our fiddler leads the promenade of costumed guests for the contest.
Participate in three legged race, tug-o-war and egg and spoon race.

*All items to be autographed are available for purchase in the Heritage Hill Gift Shop and General Store. Charlotte Stewart’s, Beadle Bags are $47.50, pictures are $7. William Anderson’s books range in price from $6.99-$30. All taxes are included, so these are the final prices.
