This Memorial Day, join Heritage Hill in honoring the brave men and women who lost their lives serving our nation. The day begins at the Tomb of the Unknown, where members of the American Legion and our Fort Howard soldiers will remember the service of the unknown Camp Smith military men interred at the Park.
Heritage Hill will continue to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War with two historical vignettes. Listen as a 19th century newspaper reporter interviews James Newton, veteran of the 14th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and observe local ladies as they discuss the ways in which women supported the troops. Visitors will also have the opportunity to print a recruitment poster and make a patriotic craft.
