Cooking with Wood

Warm Up by the fire. Students will gather wood and learn how to cook on a wood burning stove or fireplace. Peel, chop, fry and bake, then enjoy the fruits of your labors. *Must be age 8 & up. Limit 10 students. Supply Cost: $5.00

Mr. Tank's Art Class

Children will tour through Tank Cottage and spend time examining the many oil paintings done by Otto’s wife Caroline. Children will paint various settings in water color, colored pencil and pencil drawings. *Suggested age: 8 & up. Limit 1

Children will learn and do American Country dances from the early 1800’s. By the middle 1800’s, the style had changed and the Quadrilles had become more popular. Suggested age: 8 & up. Limit 20 students.

Sewing a Housewife

Students will work on a historic sewing kit called a “housewife.” These were used by both men and women for completing necessary repairs while traveling. *Suggested age: 10 & up. Limit 15 students. Supply Cost: $5.00

The year is 1848. Children will travel back in time to experience school and learning in a completely new way. Our teacher leads the class in geography, history, reading, math and spelling. Suggested age: 8 & up. Limit 30 students.
